Art Department

Hello! 

     My name is Helen Athanas, and I am proud to be an Art Educator at Bergen Boulevard School.

I have been teaching for 40 years, and I remain passionate today about 

 guiding learners discover the world through the creative process as I was on my first day in the classroom.

     I earned a B.A. with honors from Pratt Institute and my M.A. from Queens College, City University of New York.

I hold a Art Education Teaching Certificate.

     Art is more than a subject - it is a language that allows children to communicate thoughts, feelings, and ideas when words are not enough.  Through painting, drawing, sculpture, and mixed media, students discover not only artistic skills but also deeper confidence in themselves.

           Welcome to the adventure of Art!

     Outside the classroom I spend time with my family and friends,  travel, enjoy Museum and Botanical Garden  visits.
