About Me

My name is Miss Dugenio, and I am a music teacher both at Shaler Academy and Bergen Boulevard School. At Shaler Academy, I teach both preschool and kindergarten general education and Learning Center; at Bergen Boulevard, I am the second grade music teacher and I frequently collaborate with the first grade music teacher, Miss DeNobile, on concerts throughout the year. This is my third year teaching, as well as my third year in Ridgefield School District! I currently have a B.S. in Music Education from the Mary Pappert School of Music at Duquesne University, which is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

My teaching philosophy is based around movement and play, where students will develop their musicianship skills through singing, dancing, and playing games. This encourages students' confidence, as well as frequently incorporating collaboration with other peers to promote social skills development. My favorite thing about teaching in this position is how second graders take ownership of their learning and preparation for their concert at the end of the year; at Shaler Academy, I love showing students how music can be fun and playful!

My primary instrument is voice and my secondary instrument is piano (but I know how to play a little bit of everything), and I enjoy playing the saxophone, guitar, and trumpet. Outside of the classroom, I love listening to music, as well as making music with my fellow musician friends! I also have three cats whom I love very much, and my favorite thing is having a cuddle party with them.
