ESL Grades 1 & 2
My name is Min Jon Pak, and I am honored to serve as the ESL teacher at Bergen Boulevard School. This is my sixth year in this role, and I remain deeply committed to supporting our English language learners as they develop the skills and confidence needed to thrive academically and socially.
I graduated from Montclair State University with a B.A. in Linguistics and hold certification in Teaching English as a Second Language. My teaching philosophy is grounded in creating an encouraging and supportive environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, making mistakes, and learning from them as they build proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English. As an immigrant myself who entered the U.S. school system in first grade, I understand the challenges that students and families may face when adapting to a new language and culture. This experience guides my approach to instruction and strengthens my dedication to fostering a welcoming and inclusive classroom community. I especially love welcoming new English language learners to our school and believe that I also learn so much from their perspectives, cultures, and experiences.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy drawing, crafting, hiking, and spending time with my family. I especially love dogs and spending time with my nieces and nephew.
I look forward to partnering with families and colleagues to ensure that each student receives the support and opportunities they need to succeed.
