Ruth Willey

Welcome to my page! My name is Ms. Willey and I'm looking forward to another great year at Bergen Boulevard School. This is my 9th year teaching 1st grade here and I can't wait to work with my new students and watch them grow throughout the year into independent learners.

 

I graduated from Rider University with a B.A. in Elementary Education. I love teaching 1st grade because I get to help set the foundation of children's education. I believe 1st grade is a critical year for not only teaching initial academic skills, but also helping students foster an initial love for coming to school. My classroom approach centers around creating strong rapports with my students and making our classroom a safe place to learn, take chances, and celebrate successes.

 

Outside the classroom, I enjoy spending time with family and close friends. Sports are a big part of my life; I'm a huge Yankees and NY Giants fan! Each summer, I aim to take one memorable trip. This year's trip was to Alaska! I can't wait to tell my students about my summer trip and to hear all about their summer vacations.
